Principal's Report

“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community.”

Our Term 2 start was a testament to the caring shown in our community. The school community pulled together and supported each other. Our students were provided with time to reflect on the sad event and find comfort with their peers and teachers. It is important that we stay connected to friends, family and school and maintain a routine which allows us to process and persevere when circumstances become difficult.

Our families and teachers had very positive discussion about student learning at last week’s Parent Student Teacher meetings. These were held on Microsoft Teams and allowed families to move easily between teachers on the screen. The feedback from these sessions were positive from both staff and parents. It is a long day online but certainly worth the time for teachers to build on the relationships with families.

Our Year 10 students attended the Careers Expo last Friday. The loved the 'show bags' with lots of promotional goodies but were more impressed with the variety of pathways they could explore on the day.

We are so proud of our swimmers and divers who were extremely successful at the State Championships. It is always so exciting to watch Beaumaris Secondary College history being made.

NAPLAN for our Year 7 and 9 students is next week. We have had a number of preparation sessions to transition smoothly to the online platform.

The next few weeks are filled with lots of social and school events that we encourage parents to get involved in. From Open Night, for prospective families, to year level social nights, there is a way to connect with the school and find out more or share your experiences. Tomorrow night, Parents’ Association will be meeting at the college so please consider coming along.
