Parent | Teacher | Student Interviews

Mrs Sabrina Hughes

This Wednesday afternoon saw us conduct our very first round of Parent | Teacher | Student Interviews for Years 11 and 12 remotely, via Teams. We felt it important to be able to conduct the interviews as calendared, and this medium enabled connection in a manner that was safe for everyone, with as much ‘personable’ contact as possible. We will adopt a similar method for the Junior School Interviews scheduled for next week, Tuesday 5 April.

As a staff and College, we’ve never undertaken this kind of connection in such a large-scale way, and it’s been very pleasing to find that it all went so well. By almost all accounts, the experience was both positive, convenient, and successful for our students, parents and staff. Thank you to all those parents who have provided us with such positive and constructive feedback.

Whilst guidelines for schools are set to relax somewhat for the start of next term, the College has decided to conduct the Year 7-10 Parent | Teacher | Student Interviews in the same way for Term 2 - as scheduled for Tuesday 28 April.  Being so near to the time where Perth is still experiencing its highest caseload numbers to date, we feel that bringing hundreds of students, staff and parents together in the Sports Centre for this day, so early in the term, is a risk that would not be in the best interests of our community’s health and welfare. Given the success, efficiency and convenience of our online Interviews this week, we will continue with this method for the start of Term 2.

Personally, thank you for all the support you’ve offered us over the last five weeks, and the whole term. We haven’t done this before! This is unchartered territory for our staff, our students, and you, as parents. We genuinely feel that the Trinity College community has managed the complexities and challenges of the situation so well, and the support we’ve received is deeply appreciated.

God Bless and stay safe during the term break.
