Yarra Ranges Program

This week the team from Yarra Ranges Tech School visited our Years 7-10 and VET Kitchen Operations students. Ashley, Bridget and Steve excited students with new and future technologies such as a Food 3d printer, Thymio AI Robots, Robo Masters, Lil bits electronics, Tinker CAD  and much more. Many thanks to Reg from Watters Electrical, Michael from Guthrie McGoldrick Engineering and Rob from Gouge Dry Cleaning, who related the technology the students were using to the current technology they use in their businesses, every day. For their projects students created a sustainable community and completed a presentation to the group at the end of the day.

About Yarra Ranges Tech

Our Vision: We will excite and engage secondary school students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics to prepare them for the industries and jobs of the future.

Our Objectives:

To prepare students for a changing world which is highly STEM focused;

To strengthen students employability skills;

To link education to growing industries; and

To create a Tech School which is locally led and operated.

Design Thinking:

We use a six-stage thinking process to allow students to experience collaboration as a team to solve real-world problems and develop new opportunities. The double diamond model allows students to use both divergent and convergent thinking applying their foundational skills learnt at school, in a practical application. This model allows tailoring of our programs to suit different learning needs, class structures and outcomes.
