Principals Report

Rohan Cooper

Leadership is a concept that is transferrable across many places. You will see it in your workplace and you’ll see it on the sporting field across the weekend. We see it in our school too, from our students, our staff and in members of our community.

I am really proud of this photo at the head of this page. The twelve students pictured compromise our school captains across my first three years at the school. I will always remember being welcomed so warmly into the school by our 2020 team of Winnie, Sam, April and Lucas; whilst Emma, Thomas, Sophie and Lewis supported our community through a challenging 2021. Our captains for 2022, Molly, Shlok, Aliyah and George are already showing they are strong communicators in the early stages of their role.

Our students take genuine pride in their role as leaders. The process to gain one of these roles is significant. Students write applications, prepare speeches and present in front of their peers. Our students and staff have input into the final decisions, as do our previous captains, who sit in on the early interview process. We tackle this task professionally and the outcomes we get are outstanding.

A process that I hope to embed as a tradition at our school is for the previous captains to return to our school for the presentation of our new leaders each year. Our 2021 captains prepared speeches that reflected on their key learnings in their time as a leader, as did the 2020 captains last year. Both our 2021 and 2020 captains presented our new leaders with their badges and joined us for photos and morning tea afterwards.

The full list of student leaders for 2022 is as follows

Congratulations to every leader who was presented on Monday. We are incredibly proud of you and trust you to lead improvement across our school.

Finally, congratulations to our newlywed, Miss Haylie (STEM), who tied the knot last weekend.  We hope the day was special and one to remember.   Whilst on the topic, Miss Kim (Assistant Principle) will be walking down the isle over the Easter Holidays.  We send best wishes to her for a beautiful day.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best,

Rohan.
