Author’s Visit

On Friday 29 April Scoresby Secondary College welcomed Robert Newton, author of the Year 8 English novel “Runner”.

During his time with the Year 8 students Robert held an in-depth discussion of the themes, characters and story development in his novel. He spoke of the pleasure of creative writing and encouraged our students to enjoy this aspect of their schooling. He also gave some practical tips about the actual writing process and how he fits this into his working life as a fireman. He emphasized that if he can do it, anyone can.

Robert Newton was a lively and interesting speaker and we felt very fortunate to have a published author speaking with our students. The Resource Centre has copies of all of his books if students would like to read them.
