Peer Support

This term Year 7 students commenced our Peer Support program, led by Year 10 students who we trained last year.

The Secondary School Peer Support Program seeks to increase connections for Year 7 students as they transition to Secondary School. This encourages students to form relationships and develop empathy and a sense of responsibility towards students they might not typically engage with. While working within these structured small groups, older students lead younger students through activities that explore social and emotional skills focusing on resilience, values and anti-bullying.

The structure and content combined, seek to build protective factors such as a greater sense of self, of possibility, connectedness and resilience and establish a shared language across the school community.

The students have already completed 3 sessions and will complete 4 more sessions over Terms 2 and 3, with a celebration BBQ in Term 4.

It has been wonderful to see students actively involved in their groups,  gaining confidence as they contribute to group discussions, and making new connections with their peers. We encourage you to talk with your Year 7 or Year 10 child about their experience so far.
