Principal Team Editorial

Term 1 is finishing with a rush with many significant events in the last couple of weeks including Open Night, Student Conferences, the iCan challenge and the Alumni showcase, just to name a few! It has been a largely successful term considering the amount of interruptions and impacts that we have had with COVID this term. We have proved resilient though and battled on to deliver some pleasing outcomes across the school. I want to pay tribute to the amazing staff at our school, who have pushed on through great adversity to support and teach students during these times of high absence. Throughout term 1 students have also proved resilient with many having to spend long times at home, but despite this they kept working, learning and remained positive.

Our Open Night was well attended, and staff and students displayed the high quality of learning and teaching that we engage in, within our school. I thank all of those who gave their time to represent us so well, during what is one of our biggest events of the year.

The school term finishes with the 45km fundraising walk the iCan challenge with a big group of students, staff and parents walking to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital, Good Friday Appeal. This is a cause that is dear to many in our community and I encourage you to donate to our cause https://fundraise.goodfridayappeal.com.au/event/wantirnacollege-icanchallenge/home

This week we were lucky enough to have two special visitors, with the Easter Bunny visiting our students in class to hand out Easter Eggs, and the Australian Women’s Volleyball captain Kelly Lean training the Year 8 Girls Volleyball team. It was great to have Kelly here (thanks to Mr Beovich) and the girls were very appreciative of her coaching.

Well the term has finished with a rush, time for a break, I wish all the school community a Happy Easter and I hope every gets the chance to enjoy the holidays!
