The first week of term we attended the VCE Careers Expo at Caulfield Racecourse.  Students from years 10, 11 & 12 travelled by bus with careers staff to attend the Expo.  Students were able to visit exhibitors from Victoria Police, the ADF, Monash, Swinburne to name a few.

Work Experience!

A presentation was made to all Year 10 students regarding WORK EXPERIENCE last week during Mentor. All students have been given the relevant documentation to be completed prior to going out to their placement!

Why is work experience important?

  • Work experience is a great opportunity to ‘try out’ a career you’re interested in. You can explore a career before committing to one.
  • It helps you understand the workplace and employer expectations.
  • You can speak to people in the industry you are interested in, ask lots of questions!
  • It looks great on your resume.
  • Develops self-confidence and social skills = employability!
  • It helps identify your own skills and recognise areas that you may need to work on.
  • You will gain a better understanding of your strengths and interests.

Key points!

  • Return your paperwork to Carly Pearson by Friday 27th May!
  • Ensure your parent/guardian has signed the ‘parent agreement’ and the Covid Safe agreement
  • The employer needs to complete the ‘work placement details’
  • You need to have completed 2 x Safe@Work modules and sent Carly with a copy.

If you have any questions, come and visit the Careers Corner where a friendly staff member can answer any questions you may have!
