Athletics Day

Next Thursday 19th of May, we have our Athletics Day! This should be a fantastic day! This is a compulsory school event with all students expected to attend. Please ensure all forms are completed by Monday 16th of May. This can be done via compass, or a paper form.

If students need a new form, please see Carly in Walton!

Students are encouraged to participate in the events, either in the competition or novelty events. Please wear YELLOW to support WALTON, or your PE uniform.

Walton came second in Swimming Sports, so let’s band together to get first place! We can do it.

Values Nominations and House Points

In the first 3 weeks of Term 2 we have been inundated with values nominations for our wonderful Walton students! We are so impressed with the effort students have been making so far this term, and we are thrilled to see this being reflected and encouraged through values nominations. Currently, here are the top students for each year level in value nomination house points over the past 3 weeks. Congratulations to the below students, keep up the amazing work!! Reading House Points

If sport isn’t your thing, remember that across the houses we have a reading program. This reading program is to encourage students to read books, fill out a mini review and receive 5 house points!

If a student writes a long review, Mr Shinkfield will post it on compass, and that student will be awarded 50 house points (that’s right, 50!).

If you’re interested in this, please go to the library near the returns, and you’ll find some coloured slips. They are in house colours, so grab a yellow one and start reading! Each month we will have staff and student recommendations in the Newshamper. These slips & boxes will also be in all house offices in term 2.

In each Newshamper going forward, we will be celebrating the achievements of one student. This month, our student of the month is!!!

This month, our student of the month is:

Mohamed Toto – Year 8

We have chosen Mo this month because he has demonstrated school spirit through learning and respect. Mo wrote a wonderful poem in English last term (featured below).

‘I Will Not Stand’By Mohamed Toto

I will not stand for racism

I will not stand for bullying and fighting

I will not stand for men hitting women

I will not stand for people disrespecting religion

I will not stand for people disrespecting culture

I will not stand for people discriminating gender

I will not stand for sexism

I will not stand for disrespect

I will not stand for drugs

I will not stand for war

I will not stand for hate

I will not stand for trash talking

However

I will stand for respecting everyone

Ready to Learn Reminders

Please remember to wear your uniforms with pride. Uniform is an important way to demonstrate our togetherness as a community, and a way to represent our school community. It’s a responsibility of students at HPSC to uphold this standard, and overall, we are really impressed with the presentation of uniform so far. A reminder that senior students who arrive to school out of uniform without a good reason, will be sent home.

Students will then need to redeem the time missed in their own time in the library. Remember to attend classes on time, so that students have the best chance at accessing information and content. Being 10 minutes late 5 times a week means students can be missing an hour of class time over the week. A reminder to students to ensure bags aren’t coming to classes, and that lockers are being used appropriately.

Thank you

The Walton Team
