“A Rock In Time” Visits Melbourne Museum

On Friday the 1st of November, 29 “A Rock In Time” students, Ms. Waser, and Mrs. Amadei travelled to Melbourne Museum. The purpose of the excursion was to explore the thousands of rock samples and fossils housed at the Museum – and of course to see the DINOSAURS. The students worked their way through Rocks and explored how they were formed. Students were asked to create short videos to “Show what they know”. Next, students did the “Dinosaur Walk” identifying some different features of dinosaurs, particularly those of carnivorous therapods. Students then travelled 600 million years into the past, looking at fossils and witnessing the evolution of life and the changes due to mass extinctions. Despite being a long day (and the extra-long time to get home), the excursion was enjoyed by all.
