ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS' REPORT

BOOKLISTS & STUDENT RESOURCES FOR 2018
Campion Education is again the booklist provider for McKinnon Secondary College. We are currently in the process of providing 2018 booklists for senior students; they will be distributed to the Junior School in the coming weeks. Families will again have the option of placing an order online and then collecting the books/stationery from our Gym - this has proven to be a very convenient option for families. Students in the Senior School for 2018 (Years 10, 11 or 12) can collect their order from our Gym on Friday 8 December. This option will assist students in completing holiday homework. If you want to take advantage of this service, booklist orders need to be completed online by Monday 24 November. The link to Campion Education is on the College website.
For students in the Junior School in 2018 (Years 7-9), collection from the college will take place on Thursday 25 January. We encourage families to select the prepackaged school-collection option, as it is more convenient; details and cut-off dates for orders are on the booklists.
In a number of areas the College has moved to online resources to replace texts for 2018 - we are using Edrolo as an online textbook replacement in Year 12 Biology, Psychology and Business Management; Language Perfect in all German and French classes, plus Maths Pathway in Year 7 Mathematics. These resources are paid for via parent financial contributions, rather than via the Campion booklist. We are excited about the powerful learning opportunities provided by these resources, and pleased they are cheaper for families than many of the printed texts used in previous years.
If families are interested in using the Sustainable Bookshop (link on the College website) to buy secondhand textbooks please ensure the edition of the book is checked carefully. To confirm this information, all 2018 booklists can be accessed via the Campion Education link on the College website.
EXAMS
All students in Years 9 - 11 will be completing exams later this term. It is critical that all students begin their revision early, seeking support and assistance from their teachers. Success will require students to set high expectations for their performance, to work hard and to take pride in their work. We encourage all students to review carefully their teachers’ feedback on Learning Tasks (via Compass) to identify areas for improvement.
UNIFORM
Please ensure your child continues to come to school in correct uniform at all times. Facial piercings such as nose studs and eyebrow piercings are not acceptable - students will be asked to remove such piercings on-the-spot, prior to attending class. We expect students to wear the uniform with pride and it is an important part of our school culture. Please note: Blazers are optional in Terms 1 & 4; however, when travelling to/from school, students wishing to wear an outer garment must wear the blazer (rather than the College jumper).
EARLY FINISH ON MONDAY 6 NOVEMBER
Monday 6 November will be a normal day of classes; there will, however, be an early finish at 2:30pm due to a teacher professional development session.
