Comparing Capacity

This week in Maths, the students have been exploring the concept of capacity and comparing how much different containers can hold. We are learning that we can measure a container's capacity by seeing how many informal units, such as unifix blocks, will fit into it, as well as exploring how many spoonfuls of sand or water will fit inside. Students are encouraged to consider which material is best for measuring the capacity of a particular object.

Year Two Sleepover Update

The Year Two Sleepover is scheduled to take place on the evening of Thursday, 14th October (Week Two next term), for students in Year Two only. At this stage we have every hope that the sleepover will proceed, pending whatever restrictions may be in place at that time. Staff will be taking great care to ensure that the sleepover and catering arrangements adhere to strict Covid-safe measures.

The cost of the sleepover will be approximately $20 and a permission slip, with further details and request for payment, will go home at the beginning of Week One next term. In the meantime, the school holidays are a fantastic opportunity to help your Year Two child organise their bedding and practice setting and packing it up. They will need a sleeping bag and pillow, and either a mattress or a camp stretcher to sleep on. We anticipate, due to Covid restrictions, that parents may not be able to come on site to help the students set up their bedding, but staff will be available to assist.

If you have any questions, please see your child’s teacher.
