From the Principal Class
Principal News
Dear Viewbank College Community,
At the time of writing, the Premier has announced the new Roadmap now that we have met 70 percent vaccination targets.
This means that students will be able to return to school in a staged way from Friday 22nd October.
Please look out for announcements through Compass and Teams for details of that return onsite.
We look forward to seeing all students back and re-engaging with their teachers, peers and their learning.
Critical to a safe return is to maintain our Covid-Safe plan.
As we open, the following safety precautions are incredibly important:
- Vaccination. All teachers and support staff will be fully vaccinated at the College. The more students that are vaccinated, the greater the protection from the spread of Covid-19. If you have any concerns, please contact me at the College to discuss these.
- Face masks. Mandatory for all adults and students. MUST be worn indoors and outdoors and when travelling to and from school.
- Ventilation. We will ensure ventilation through open windows and doors and not using air conditioners that recycle air. We are still waiting on word from the Department on air purifiers.
- Social distancing.
- Hygiene and testing. Stay home if unwell, get tested even with the mildest of symptoms. Isolate until you receive your test results.
Upcoming Events:
- Parent/student teacher conferences this Thursday 21st October for Years 7-11
- Unit 3/4 exams starting Wednesday October 27
- Year 12 Valedictory celebration November 19
- Presentation Ball for Year 11 and Year 12 students (dates TBC)
We are hoping to begin scheduling more events once we receive updated guidance from the Department regarding numbers allowed at gatherings, social distancing and vaccination requirements.
Unit 3/4 GAT and Year 12 Care Packs:
Our students studying VCE Unit 3 & 4 subjects completed the GAT on October 5th.
After they had finished the 3 hour slog that is the General Achievement Test (GAT), a wonderful surprise was waiting for them.
A group of parents banded together and worked with Jackson Moloney and the Senior School team to put together an amazing care pack for each Year 12 student.
On behalf of the College, I would like to thank Jodie Burns for coordinating this wonderful surprise for the Year 12 students, who have done it tough going in and out of lockdown over the past 20 months.
A very big thank you also to Debbie Boschieter, Christine Gasparini, Sharna Graham, Mary Croxford and Robyn Allen with help from Ann Milne, Aisling McCabe, Fran Gould, Fiona Mallon, Natalie Kurta and Jane Fisher.
