Year 12 Final Day Celebration

We held off on publishing this newsletter so we could include the final day for our year 12 students.  Our amazing VCAL students had been planning the celebrations for the last day as part of their WRS class throughout term 3.

There were some great ideas put forward and a huge amount of work was put into planning.  Unfortunately most of what they had planned had to be adapted to meet with social distancing requirements.  The VCAL students were able to pivot and change plans like experts and today did a huge amount of work to see Year 12 off in style.

Big thanks to this team for organising and preparing a BBQ lunch and bagged popcorn for students and staff.  The handprint banner, which will  hang in the senior centre for the next 12 months looks great, and Dakota and Kane our VCAL captains did an outstanding job in ensuring social distancing was maintained.

Students arrived in their restructured school uniforms, there was some very creative options with lots of new style Wantirna College skirts and crop tops.  Period 1, students were presented with a memento gift, a drink bottle from the Parents Association and a Keep Cup from the staff.  These gifts were much appreciated and I do believe I even saw a student shed a tear.

The assembly was great, and our student leaders did themselves and their cohort proud.  This group of year 12 students clearly formed close and fast  friendships with their peers and teachers alike.  The assembly was also the opportunity to reward the academic achievements of our students.  We presented the Most Outstanding Student subject awards. The list of these students is included on the next page.

Mr Lewis and the Henderson twins, Jason and Evan went all out to give the students a red carpet exit complete with fog machine, neon lights and thumping music.

On behalf of the staff I would like to recognise all our year 12 students and congratulate them on their achievements.  Our VCAL students have their final interviews on Monday and Tuesday and the following week the VCE exams begin.  Whatever direction each student in taking we wish them all the best.
