Years 10 -12 Update
October 2021
After completing 13 years of schooling, the VCAL and VCE year 12 students celebrated across 2 days of activities. The first day included year 12 staff vs. year 12 student volleyball with the students unable to beat the staff, even when given a handicap, after 3 solid games. The intermediate VCAL students surprised the year 12’s with a packed picnic lunch on the lawn, followed by a VCAL vs. VCE Futsal match. After lunch, students enjoyed a movie experience complete with popcorn, slushies and fairy floss.
The second day of celebration - the official last day of school - kicked off with the obligatory redecorating of the school. Toilet paper, shaving cream and silly string were the materials of choice, as were water bombs and water pistols. Students had plenty of activities throughout the day, including a jumping castle, bungee run and the very popular gladiator style contender ring. An amazing race saw the year 12’s competing in small teams to achieve a variety of tasks including making an origami swan, making a model of their future career and completing a Tik Tok dance. After a delicious lunch supplied by Mulita BBQ, we said our final farewells outside, with a few speeches, and a funny clip put together by the students.
Congratulations to all the year 12’s on two very long years of remote and onsite learning, and best of luck with your exams.
Thank you to everyone for joining and supporting the VCAL Camp for Afghanistan event.
We ended up raising $350 to go towards Mahboba's Promise and we are very thankful to everyone who helped us to get to that amount. The night was a great success with around 20 people joining the webex. We were lucky enough to hear from past student Rocky and to hear her story about her journey as a refugee and to hear her insights into the current crisis that's happening in Afghanistan. We also had an exciting and fun kahoot hosted by Cooper Bartlett.
If you weren't able to join the webex but you'd still like to donate and support, you can visit the website. LINK
