A message from Tami-Jo

Dear Parents/Carers,

On behalf on DCC we would like to wish our families an abundance of love, health and happiness for Diwali, celebrated on Thursday 4th November.

Shubh Deepavali!

It has been amazing to have our students back at school and watch them playing in the sunshine with their friends. The year though is fast drawing to a close and there is still so much to do!

Some children are struggling to settle back into the routine at school and may be finding it difficult reconnecting with their peers. It is important to always speak positively about their school experience and either encourage your child to come and chat with us if they are experiencing some difficulties or let us know and we will work with you and your child to ensure that they are developing strategies to assist them.

New Facilities

We are hoping to have handover for our new buildings and playground space next week and we will be working to ensure that is all ready for the beginning of next year. We have new furniture and equipment arriving over the next few weeks. We will be keeping the temporary fencing up until early next year to ensure that our grass, gardens and trees are safe and are given enough time to grow properly.

We look forward to sharing them with you next year.

Parent Contributions

Thank you to those families who have already paid their contributions to the school for 2022. These contributions allow us to continue to provide a varied and robust curriculum with engaging resources to assist our students in their learning.

Just a reminder that for next year, our parent contributions will be split into two parts:

  • Curriculum & Other Contributions (Paid directly to the school)
  • Educational Items for your child to own – we recommend purchasing your child’s booklist items from Paperchase Office National (http://booklist.paperchase.com.au)

Further information can be found on our website or by clicking here

Parking/ Pick Up and Drop Off

The drop off and pick up zone is working better now. Everyone seems to be aware that it is not a place to park, and it has been helping traffic move more smoothly. It is important that students be encouraged to get out of the car on the side of the footpath so they are safe.  Parents should model the correct behaviour also and insist that students use the crossing where possible and don’t run out between cars or cross the road in an unsafe manner. I have seen cars doing u-turns at inappropriate places and I ask that you think very carefully about how that affects the other traffic during these busy times. It's also important that cars don't park in the drive ways along Mainview Blvd as this not only blocks the footpath, but is also adjacent to a pedestrian zebra crossing which makes it  extremely dangerous to students using the crossing.

We as a community need to work together to keep all of our students safe.

Concert

The staff and students are busily preparing for the end of year concert. You will be contacted soon to let you know what simple items will be needed for their costumes. This will be a wonderful way to end the year. I am so excited!
