From the Principal

Staffing Update
The process for staffing has begun for 2022. I can confirm I will be continuing in the Principal role for Terms 1 & 2. An update of teaching positions will be provided in the next newsletter once confirmed. Many of our teachers will continue as they hold permanent positions, with our contract teachers waiting for letters of appointment. Paige Colwell is now on maternity leave and is due to have her baby any day now. She will continue maternity leave in 2022. Jenna Panozzo has been successful in winning a year 7 to high school position and will be leaving us at the end of the year. We will also farewell Heather Smith who is planning retirement at the end of the year after a successful career in our preschool and very much valued member of the preschool team. We wish her well in retirement and thank her for her commitment to education at Para Vista.
In week 9 of this term we also farewell our year 6's and 7's who are graduating as part of a double cohort moving to High School. They will have transition visits during this term and we wish them all the best for the transition process and for 2022 as they continue education in a High School setting.
2022 Class Placements
For students continuing in primary school we have started planning classes for 2022. If your child will no longer be attending Para Vista in 2022 we ask that you please inform us in writing via the parent support email: Parent.Support483@schools.sa.edu.au. This is to help us create the class lists as accurately as possible. Similarly if you know of families keen to enrol for 2022 please ensure that they get in touch with us for a tour or call for more information. Staff spend a great deal of time reviewing students as learners to put together effective class groups. We also work really closely as a staff team to ensure seamless transition as students move from one year level to the next. Students will have the opportunity to visit their new classroom in week 8 of this term. Our younger students starting school in 2022 they have already began visiting our transition room and the Hive and are becoming familiar with the long corridor in the Vista building!

Pupil Free Day Reminder

Covid update
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support with the Concert and for following Covid safe practices during the event. At this stage we continue to ask that parents remain out of buildings unless arrangements have been made for a meeting, school transition or if you are attending a Community Hub activity. In those circumstances you are required to sign in and QR check in at the front office, wear a mask and socially distance. By pre-rearranging the visit we can monitor numbers and ensure Covid safe practices are followed. A recent update have made masks optional for school staff, however the recommendation for parents and visitors to wear masks is still in place. The Community Hub Coordinator, Jude, monitors numbers for the hub activities to ensure we comply with density requirements. There are still plenty of spots available in English classes and for the coffee and chat sessions. See the Hub page for the program of activities.
