Potato Olympics!

Math & Remote Learning Snapshots

In term 3 we held our Year 1 Potato Olympics! We got our own potato and decorated them. They lived in the Athletes Village in our classroom. We competed against each other for gold silver and bronze medals. We played bowls and the aim of the game was to roll our potatoes closest to the target.  We had so much fun!!

MATHS

For Maths this term we have been practising our skills of Place Value using Hundreds, Ten and Ones. We love working with others in the classroom and we enjoy using hands on materials like counters, Unifix and mini whiteboards to help us visualise when we are learning.  Check us out being so clever…

REMOTE LEARNING

Unfortunately, being at school was short lived. Then we started remote learning lockdown number 6. We were so proud of the kids and their constant achievements and participation online each day. We had so many fun times and highlights and tried to make the best of a bad situation. The kids enjoyed fun Fri-yay dress ups, quizzes, riddles, games, dancing discos and competitions. We tried anything and everything to keep the classroom fun and alive!

We held a book week competition where students listen to a story called Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and then the task was to create a new front cover and blurb. The winner from each homegroup with the best front cover design got a $10 book voucher. All of the entries were amazing and congratulations to everyone who participated.

The final winners were Athena M from 1B and Alexis from 1A!

Finally, at the end of term 3 we asked students to write some messages to each other. Well, not much needs to be said here, they truly speak for themselves. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did.  Well done on a fabulous Term 3!!
