Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
Hello from sunny Perth! Today and tomorrow Stephanie Sousa and I are visiting IDEAS schools in Perth sharing our revitalisation story with them, whilst they share their successes and challenges with us. We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of a wider network of schools all working towards the same goal of school revitalisation and improvement.
Next week I will be meeting with four schools and their respective leadership teams in Adelaide continuing the conversation, sharing great practice and collectively learning from each other. This is all part of the Victorian Principals' Association Study Tour which I was fortunate to receive last year, and who is funding these trips on our behalf. The learning from these trips will be shared with our own IDEAS team to keep up the great work we are doing in this area.
Thank you very much to all of those in our community who came along and took part in our recent Education Week Expo. The feeling on the night was electric as parents and children took part in classroom based, as well as specialist classes making popcorn, driving robots, being physically active in the gym and making music in performing arts. A huge thank you to the many parents who helped Nicole with the sausage sizzle. Feedback on the night suggested this was a great addition to feed hungry mouths at that time of night.
This Wednesday we will be firing up the BBQ again, this time for our Enrolment Information Night where we welcome families considering enrolling their child at Mackellar in 2024. Our student leaders will be taking prospective parents on tours, sausages and hamburgers will be available before an information session followed by Q & A. If you know of anyone who would benefit from coming along, please encourage them to.
Congratulations to the 28 students from Mackellar Primary School who recently attended the District Cross Country. Mrs Wishart tells me that they all did an outstanding job of trying their very best and representing our school with pride. A big thank you also to Mr Michielin for coordinating the students at the event, and to Mandy Dolheguy for being a great parent helper on the day.
A reminder that June 12 is a public holiday for the King's Birthday and that June 13 is a pupil free day giving students a four day break. TheirCare is available for supervision on the 13th should families require this. Bookings are essential.
Kind Regards,
Simon McGlade
