National Simultaneous Storytime Reading
Students in Transition to Year 2 were invited to attend the National Simultaneous Storytime hosted by the Guyra Library and Armidale Regional Council. On Wednesday 24th May at 11 o'clock, all across the country, children listened to this year's chosen book 'The Speedy Sloth' by Rebecca Young. St Mary of the Angels' students, along with students from other local schools, were completely immersed in the story telling by our local councillor, Debra O'Brien who gave an engaging, humour-filled rendition of the book. After a little bit of impromptu singing by the audience, Cr. O'Brien was convinced to read another book, "The Book With No Pictures' by B.J. Novak, which had the listeners in stitches, children and adults alike.
We then watched proudly as the awards for the colouring in competition were announced, which included a win in their age group by Jacob Sauer and Arlie Rosser and highly commended by Hudson Hoy, Mackenna Cleaver, Casey Jones and Evie Cox and Kayden Willliams.
Many thanks go to Amy and Wendy for coordinating the day and to ARC for providing a bus, driven by Phil, for our Transition students.
