Innovation

This term, across the Year 1 to Year 6 Communities, our Big Idea is Innovation. Through the concept of Play, each community is using the design process to develop ideas such as games for wet day programs, designing games for others and inclusive game design for all people.

The Year 5 and 6 Community are involved in the unit ‘ Unlocking our Abilities - Who is the world designed for?’ They are learning to understand that people interact with the world in different ways and learn about how they can design for them. As part of the unit, the students will be creating an online game that is inclusive and can be played by people with cognitive, sensory, auditory or visual disabilities.

As they have been learning about these big ideas, the students have been immersed in and exploring what this all means.

They have been researching the specific needs of people as well as using Beebots, Makey Makey's and Sphero's to code and create instructions for others to follow.

The students have now finished their research, identified what is needed in Universal Game Design and are ready to create their games. We can't wait to experience them at the Learning Expo!
