RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 

In just under two week’s time, on Friday 16th June, we will be celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart beginning with a Mass at 10:00am. Our year six leaders will be delivering food and goods that have been kindly donated by families.  

Thank you to our generous families for supporting the Sacred Heart St Vinnies Appeal. Any donation great or small can be dropped off at the front office up until Friday next week and they will certainly be appreciated by those in need. 

Last week whilst we celebrated Reconciliation Week Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann met with the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis. 

Miriam presented the Pope with a painting to promote the 50th Anniversary of Australia-Holy See diplomatic relations (1973-2023). 

When Pope John Paul II visited Alice Springs in 1986, Louise Pandella (Miriam Rose’s sister) from the Nauiyu Community at Daly River handed her baby Liam to the Pope.

Last year during Reconciliation Week, Miriam Rose and children from Daly River in the NT, shared stories, deep listening (Dadirri), spirituality, dance and culture with us at Sacred Heart. Miriam Rose left us with a special painting that she and our children created on a slab of wood specifically cut from the Otways.
