Principals Message

Where does our time go? It’s the shortest day of the year on Thursday June 22 with sunrise at 7.30am and sunset at 5.15pm.

Here we are at the end of term 2 and first semester.  There have been so many excellent learning opportunities at St Mary’s for our students. We know that both school and home life has been very busy over the past few months.

We have had an interschool sports day, school cross country day, our open day, ANZAC day parade, the ERP afternoon, hot lunch days, mother’s day stall, online story time, the Festival of the Sacred, school Masses to name a few.

Your children have worked hard during the term to improve their learning outcomes.  The teachers have been busy analysing data, moderating work and writing school reports.  I have read all reports and have seen how much learning and progression has taken place during the semester.  These reports will be available on PAM through SIMON EVERYWHERE on Thursday June 22. Please take the time to read your child’s report and give them encouraging praise as well as discussing with them any future needs for growth as this is an integral part of their development as a learner.  Learning conversations will take place in week 2, 3 and 4 of term 3.  Booking for these will open in week 1.

Thank you to the P&F for organising the pie drive.  These pies will be delivered Wednesday 21st June and can be picked up from the hall from 3:00pm

Next term we look forward to having an ACER (The Australian Council for Educational Research) school review in week 3 from July 25 – 27.  During these days the review panel will work with staff, students and parents to identify existing strengths and to provide recommendations to inform the school’s next improvement cycle.

Other major events for term 3 will be the celebration of our feast day with St Joseph’s Nagambie, our whole school excursion to Melbourne, and Swimming at Aquamoves.  There will be a pupil free day on Friday August 18 for a staff retreat where they can spiritually reflect on their role at St Mary’s and realise opportunities for self-development.

We have been invited to join Rushworth P-12 College for a fun day of activities on Thursday June 22. A permission form has been posted in Simon Everywhere which needs to be completed by Wednesday June 21.  We are very grateful to the College for inviting us to share in this ‘wellbeing’ event with them.

DISMISSAL TIME: A reminder that school finishes at 2.20pm on Friday June 23.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING Week 1:

I take this opportunity to thank our parents, grandparents and carers for the care and dedication shown to our students.  Keep those hugs and smiles coming, as well as those words of encouragement and praise.

Enjoy the holidays with your family.   These winter days are great for rugging up and going on bush walks or watching a movie or having a BBQ in the back yard.  Make the most of the down time before the true winter weather sets in.

God bless
