Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term Three. I hope that everyone enjoyed the holidays and found time to relax and rejuvenate. We have a wonderful term to look forward to with lots of rich learning experiences and community events planned. It has been wonderful to see everyone back, sharing holidays stories and excitingly looking forward to the term ahead.
Our concept for this term is Exploration, with a Geography curriculum focus. Our whole school concert will be a major focus and will link with other curriculum areas and capabilities.
Welcome
Welcome to Maria Scandizzo who will be teaching Italian this semester.
Welcome back also to the Hinkley Family. It is wonderful to have them with us again.
First Communion
Catholic students in Year Four will be celebrating the Sacrament of Eucharist on Friday 28 July. If your child is in an Year Five and Six and has missed celebrating their First Communion, please contact Jacqui Hayes please at jhayes@sjsorrento.catholic.edu.au
Bunnings Barbecue
An Operoo will be sent home in the next few days asking for donations and/or volunteers for the Bunnings barbecue on Saturday 5 August. Please keep the date free.
Assistance Needed
Both our School Athletic Carnival ( Friday 11 August) and Father's Day Breakfast (Friday 1 September) require assistance to purchase food and cook the barbecues. If you are able to assist with either event, please email Jess at jlumsden@sjsorrento.catholic.edu.au
School Closure Days
There will be two school closure days this term for staff professional learning. Staff will be continuing their learning in Mathematics on Wednesday 9 August and The Berry Street Education Model on Friday 15 September. There will be no school for students on these days.
Sorrento Bus
It is with great excitement that we inform you all that Sorrento Rotary has purchased a bus for the Sorrento community which includes our school. We will have regular access to the 25 seater, seat belted bus which will enable our students to participate in more excursions and learning opportunities further afield. The generosity of the Sorrento Rotary is greatly appreciated.
If you have been unable to access your child/children's reports via the nForma Parent Portal, please contact the school office. Please organise a suitable time with your child's teacher if you would like to discuss the report. Student Led Learning Conferences will take place on Thursday 31 August.
