Athletics Day 2023

Thursday 20th July saw the 41st running of the Highvale Athletics Carnival. Record numbers of students entered events, and despite the cold weather, a number of College records and PBs were broken. Well done to all students for attending and competing. A squad of 135 students will be selected to represent the school at the division carnival on August 17th at Knox Athletics Track. Students should check Compass newsfeed for the squad list and details of training days. Thank you to staff for their assistance on the day, without your help, we could not have made the day the success it was.  Despite the speed of Mr D’Ademo and Mr Muduwa, for the first time in 12 years, the students defeated the staff teams in the 4x100m relay! Well done year 12s. Congratulations to the junior girls Champion Scully ES, the junior boys champion Neil S, the senior girls champion Jaslene O and the  Senior Boys champion Ryan S.

At the conclusion of the day, final results were tallied up and saw Acacia house be awarded the Denis Walsh House Cup. The final scores were;

Acacia

 Dampiera

Grevillea

Melaleuca

1171

851

978

In other sports news the senior boys table tennis team won the Waverley division championships and will now progress to the regional competition. Well done boys!

This week the Highvale intermediate girls netball team competed in the Netball Victoria School Championships. They battled it out to finish in 3rd place! It was an amazing effort by the team who demonstrated resilience, determination and excellence.

A huge thank you to Year 12 students Jasmine for umpiring on the day and to Dani who assisted with coaching.
