Year 5/6 Camp Rumbug 2023

My Favourite Camp Experience at Camp Rumbug

My favourite camp experience at Camp Rumbug was the flying fox. Although I was scared at first, I knew I wasn't going to die because I was harnessed in and 80% sure the camping guide knew what they were doing. When I got to the tower the view was breathtaking. There were trees everywhere and I was going to land on that yellow hill past all of those trees. The activity guide was checking for loosened straps. As soon as the activity worker walked into the middle, I knew it was my time to jump off…

The guide started to count, 3,2,1 go! It took a while to realise I had to jump, I ran out of the tower holding on my straps.

WHOOSH!  A wall of breeze hit my face. It was surprisingly cool. The zipline trolley was screaming. I was soon approaching the end of the zipline. I was going backwards and was trying to look behind me before I hit the floor. Then I landed on my feet, grasping for the rope. I toppled over but didn't hit the floor barely touching the ground.

That was my favourite experience at camp.

My Two Favourite Camp Experiences at Camp Rumbug

My most remarkable and memorable experiences were The Giant Swing and The Flying Fox. It was really enjoyable and exciting and I recommend you go there too. When I went with my best friends to the camp, on the first day we went on the Flying Fox. When I was hooked up to the line with Nathan.V, we were so scared that we really didn't want to go but we did anyway. It felt like it was done in 5 seconds, we flowed over a giant forest.

Then on the second day, we went on the Giant swing and my best friends decided we wanted to go all the way to the highest point. I was the first one to have a turn and I went all the way. We had to pull a little string and it felt like I was soaring through the sky because when I pulled the string I couldn't hold on, so it felt like I was Spiderman letting go.

When my friends did it, one of them pulled the string and we saw his saliva gliding through the sky. All of us thought his face looked like he had sour lemons. It was so funny that we almost fell on the mud. So overall, that experience was great. We couldn't sleep because we kept remembering that moment. It was the best time we ever had.
