From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents and Carers
Today I am very pleased to be sharing with our school community our Student Code of Conduct from 2023 at St Helena’s Catholic Primary School. The development of the Student Code of Conduct has involved a process in Semester 1 this year that has allowed all our students to contribute to the following key points:
- Identifying different feelings.
- Describing how they want to feel at school.
- What the behaviours are that they need for these feelings.
- What they do if that is not happening.
Involving our students in the development of their own Code of Conduct enhances their engagement in learning and their sense of pride for St Helena’s. It is hoped that it contributes to a sense of belonging, enhancing the feeling that they have been listened to and most importantly, heard. Thank you to all our students and staff who were involved in the process and to our Staff School Improvement Team who facilitated the process.
As we continue to keep the wellbeing and safety of all our students at the forefront of all our decision making, we are in the process of finalising our Procedures for Responding to Student Safety, Wellbeing and Behaviour. We plan on sharing these new guidelines in early Term 3.
Thank you to families and staff that donated to LifeLink as part of our Crazy Sock Day last week. We raised over $400.00! It was wonderful to have Angus, Heather and Kyarnaa-Rose attend the LifeLink Launch with Miss Myles and myself last Wednesday at Newman College, with representatives from most other Catholic Primary Schools in the Perth Archdioceses.
Well done to the parents and guardians that came out to listen to Paul Litherland last Wednesday evening. All in attendance would agree that it was a very informative and useful presentation in regards to surfing online safely. Lots of great tips and information shared to support parents/guardians to understand what our children may be coming across online, and what you can do to support them.
We are having a Pyjama Day on Friday 23 June to raise funds for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Students and staff (and parents/guardians too!) are encouraged to come to school in their PJ's next Friday to raise awareness of those this winter who are needing support to keep warm and safe. We appreciate in advance your gold coin donation that will be forwarded to the St Vincent de Paul Society as part of their Winter Appeal.
Continue to keep in our prayers all the students who have received their First Communion or will be receiving their First Communion over the next 2 weekends in our Parish of St Helena of the Holy Cross.
Peace & Happy Days!
