PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Mr David Whewell | Principal

Welcome back for the start of Term 3. Students and staff have quickly returned to a routine of teaching and learning. We have four staff currently on leave:

Year 1 – Chloe Murphy replaced by Mr Steve Janevski

Year 3 – Lauren Hart replaced by Ms Jessica Camilleri

Year 4 – Jeremy Matheson replaced by Ms Sarah Emery

e Learning – Julie Gatt replaced by Mr Anthony Lentini

Concert

Term 3 is concert time, and we will be focusing a great deal of energy on preparing for September 13th and 14th where all of our students will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to perform in a live stage show. Mr Stubberfield and Ms Thomas have their hands full overseeing our production for 2023. Please put your child’s performance date in the diary now and remember to show a keen interest as they rehearse over the next few weeks. Ticketing information will be available soon.

Maths Game Night

Our Tutoring coach Mrs Kate Cugnetto is facilitating a parent workshop on July 24th at 6pm in our school hall. If you are wanting advice on how to support your child at home with their mathematical development, do yourself a favour and come and learn from someone who teaches the teachers. The session is FREE and FUN!

Curriculum Day

Please note that Friday 4th August is a whole school curriculum day. Students will be at home as staff work with renowned literacy consultant Deb Sukarna. Deb has worked with Plenty Parklands since 2018 and will focus on sharing ideas for best practice teaching in the area of reading and viewing. She will be here on the Monday and Tuesdays following the curriculum day to model her teaching approaches in classrooms with your children.

2024 Prep Enrolments

This year we have 76 Prep students at PPPS. For 2024, we currently have 126 enrolled students, therefore we have made the difficult decision to close enrolments and can only now accept students who either reside in our zone or have siblings currently in the school. It is imperative that you see the office if you have a child who still requires a place here in 2024.

Extra Opportunities for students to shine

This term we continue to offer extra-curricular, after-hours options for our students. These include an Indonesian club for interested year 2 students, a numeracy homework club and an e learning club for year 3, cricket sessions for year 3 and 4 and Ms Taylor is opening the Art room for year 4 budding artists. Check Compass for more information and remember pick up is 4:30pm on Wednesdays.
