Performing Arts: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Congratulations to the cast and crew of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ that wowed audiences over the weekend.

The passion, dedication and commitment of these students over the last six months has been exemplary. It was wonderful to see the students absolutely shine on and back of stage, rewarded with enthusiastic audiences each night and very positive feedback flooding in.

A big thank you to the teachers that generously gave many, many hours of their own time to support and nurture these students through a project they’ll no doubt remember fondly for many years to come. These staff are: Bridget Day, Laura Matthews, Kim Bucknell, Raoul Linossier, Astrid Dux, Nathaniel Rosario, Dolores Doran, Tom Hubeek and Hamish Dun.

As we pack down this project, we eagerly have an eye on the next project in 2024…watch this space!

Mathematics AMPED

We were thrilled to host the University of Melbourne School of Mathematics and Statistics for a special event this Tuesday 18 July. Our students across Years 7 to 10 took part in an engaging and thought-provoking workshop on Bijections.

Students encountered apparently random problems and explore connections between these problems. The mathematics underlying these problems has rich applications both in theory and practice, particularly in the space of computing. No prior knowledge required.

Our AMPED students embody enthusiasm and dedication and enjoyed a valuable and memorable experience.

Celebrating Student Excellence

Congratulations to Aidan Donnelly (Year 7), who has been selected to play squash for Victoria in the U13 section of the national titles in Brisbane in September.

We'll all be cheering you on Aidan!

Environment Update

Litter-free spaces

The health of our College environment is integral to positive student and staff wellbeing.

Having litter-free spaces for everyone to enjoy is part of making this possible.

We encourage all students to pick up and dispose thoughtfully of any litter on the College grounds and also to do their bit by taking part in Plastic Free July with these helpful tips

New recycling boxes

A big thank you to our Year 12 Ecological Leaders, Sam H. and Jacob B. for their great initiative in making recycling more accessible across our Campuses. They've put many boxes around the school to recycle pens, textas and whiteboard markers. Please send any from home to be recycled at school.

Ideas in action

Our Ecological Leaders have some very exciting ideas to improve the health and sustainability of our community. We look forward to sharing these with you in coming weeks.

Save $10 on Zero Waste cleaning items

Aussie company Tirtyl (pronounced: turtle) has kindly shared samples of eco-friendly washing detergent sheets and dishwasher tablets to our staff, who have all given very positive feedback. Tirtyl is making a huge difference with its climate and ocean-friendly cleaning products. You can even get $10 off your items with this promo code

Year 9 to 10 Campus Transition

This week, Year 9 students at our Bentleigh East Campus began their exciting Transition Program into our Senior Campus at Mentone.

Many thanks to the Year 9 Parents, Carers and students for attending this week's Year 10 Information Evening, and for the support during this important transition.

We wish these students and families well as they work through this process across the second half of this year. As always, we're here to support with any queries. Please reach out to your Homeroom Teacher as your first port of call.

In Sympathy

Our thoughts and prayers are with two of our St Bede's College families in particular, who have sadly lost a family member.

To the Gill family in the wake of Andrew's passing this week, father to Cian (Year 11).

To the Barber family amid the recent loss of Dave, father to Jack (Year 12).

Our Community is here to support you through this difficult time.

Career Opportunities

St Bede's College is now inviting applications from experienced Teaching Professionals across English and Humanities to join our wonderful and welcoming team.

For more details on these roles, please click here

Sisters of our Lady of the Missions has a career opportunity for a Personal Assistant at its Doncaster East location. For more details, please click here

Donating to Families in Need

The Finian Foundation's  ‘BeDa Difference’ Appeal has received an incredible $7025 in donations, coupled with the Finian Foundation Charity Golf Day sponsorships of $15,365, the total amount raised so far is $22,390!

To help us support 20 St Bede’s College families experiencing severe financial difficulties, we need to raise $55,000 in total.  To help us achieve this goal, please click here
