Les excellents résultats!

In late July, our VCE French students participated in the Alliance Française Berthe Mouchette Language Competition. Students in Year 11 and 12 French sat a two hour written examination to test their listening, reading and writing skills across a range of topics. Similar to the exams set by the VCAA, this experience provided students with invaluable practice and feedback to determine their skill levels and areas for future improvement.

Congratulations to Zain Alsadie of Year 12 who achieved the highest level for the oral section of the competition. In this part of the competition, students were required to speak in French with members from the Alliance Française for 9 minutes, talking about their personal lives as well as either describe a photo in French or discuss a mini detailed study. Zain has been selected as a state finalist and will attend the Alliance Française oral finals on Sunday 9 September.

All VCE French students who participated in the Berthe Mouchette Competition this year are to be commended on their results and will receive a certificate of achievement when final results are published.

Matinée du Français                  (Morning of French)

Bright and early on Sunday 26 August, the Year 12 French students and I attended the annual morning of French at the Melbourne Convention Centre run by the Association of French Teachers of Victoria.

The end of year exam revision lecture included hints and tips from a previous year’s high achieving student, strategies for best practice in the written exam from experienced teachers of French and mock oral performances. Students received a booklet of valuable resources to improve their writing skills and participated in sample listening and reading activities. They now need to continue to practice their language skills in all areas as they begin revision for the end of year oral and written exams. Bonne Chance à tous!
