Swimming Carnival

SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL

On the Friday of the first week back, Mount Eliza Secondary College participated in the annual Swimming Carnival. At a new location for 2017, the great weather followed us to Doveton and set us up for a fantastic day.

Our house banners were out, the crowd was cheering and the waterslide was running. House spirit was brought out in spades, especially for our new events, the surfboard relay and noodle relay, which were a big hit with the crowds.

The participation this year was fantastic, and while Warringa (the best house) and the the others put up a fight, Kimmuli emerged the victor and won the gleaming house cup.

We're looking forward to the sporting events in the coming years and hope everyone keeps the house spirit up!

LIONS CLUB- YOUTH OF THE YEAR

This week four year 9 students; Lola Murchie, Callum Mann, Poppy Rich and Carolyn Vanderbijl participated in the Lions Youth of the Year Competition.

The competition involved a written application, interview with a panel of Lions Club members from Mount Eliza Lions Club, an impromptu question and prepared presentation to an adult audience. All four participants impressed judges with their willingness to enter the competition and the manner in which they conducted themselves during both the interviews and public speaking event.

Callum Mann was recognised as winner of the public speaking section of the competition with Lola Murchie the overall winner. Lola will move on to the next stage of the competition where she will compete against students from other schools in the zone. All four candidates were outstanding representatives of Mount Eliza Secondary College.
