Riverina Youth Mental Health Forum

On Tuesday 6th of June 13 KCC Year 10 & 11 students went to the Mental Health Youth Forum held at Mater Dei. We were encouraged to talk to people from other schools about our views on what mental health is and how we want to change the negative stigma surrounding it. There were many opportunities to ask questions about any issues surrounding mental health and we learned about the many places to go to if we needed to talk. Some of these places include Headspace, Beyondblue and Reach Out. Burn Bright, the facilitators of the day, were very welcoming and supportive of students from all over coming to learn about mental health and what we can do to help our school communities, friends and family members.
It was great to hear no matter how you are feeling you always have somewhere to turn and that it is ok to not be ok sometimes.
We are aiming to participate in ‘R U OK Day’ this year in term 3 at KCC.
