Loving the Library @ MSC

Hi Everyone,

This year the Library has been working towards creating an exemplary text rich literacy classroom environment to support the literacy outcomes for all students at Melton Secondary College.

We have now successfully completed the automated tagging of all fiction books in the library with reading levels which will support our students ability to choose ‘just right’ books when browsing to borrow.  In addition to this, our books are also being tagged with Genre stickers to further support students with identifying a book that will engage them when making a choice.  We will continue working on these elements to support the Independent Reading Program at MSC through 2019.

It’s that time of the year when we reconcile what is in the library. We require all student loans back immediately so that we can complete the end of year procedures in the library. The stock on the shelves have been thoroughly checked and there are students that still have items on loan.

Please encourage your child to return everything from the school library.  Letters will be sent home to families to highlight items that are still outstanding.  If your child would like to discuss this further they can speak to a member of the library team by coming in or calling 9743 3322.

The Library has been closed for our annual stocktake and is also undergoing a renovation.  New carpet and paint work is in progress and will transform the space.  We are excited about the upgrade and look forward to sharing images of the new completed look next year.

We would like to wish all of the students and families a festive break and remind you that  Melton City Library is open during the school holidays.
