Hands On Learning

Last week at Hands On Learning  saw a celebration of all the achievements and successes that the teams have enjoyed this year.

This took the form of a Pizza lunch (kindly provided by Mr Prizario the HoL Learning Leader) and the awarding of laminated certificates highlighting just some of the projects that we completed.

Next year we are looking forward to the opportunity of expanding the program to take advantage of our newly completed refurbished HoL Workshop (The Shed!).

It is going to be headed by the very well respected Mr Tony Schaefer  and of course our resident Artisan John Salanitri.

I would like to take this moment to say farewell to all those who have supported and been engaged with the Program this year, we have achieved great things, and you should all give yourselves a big pat on the back in respect of these excellent landmarks we are leaving behind as our HoL legacy this year.

It is with some regret that I head back to cooler climes in Wellington N.Z at the end of the term.  Farewell to all staff and students at Melton Secondary College keep up the good work!

Year 11 VCE Art Exhibition

I would like to thank all the staff that were able to attend the Year 11 VCE Art Exhibition, it meant so much to the Art department and especially to the Year 11 students who had their work show cased as well as being present to discuss their studio process and final artworks.

Systems Engineering

The students in Year 10 Systems Engineering participated in a 6 lesson unit on Automotive Mechanics.  During the unit they learned how an Internal Combustion Engine works as well as sub-systems within it, including electrical, lubrication, cooling and tools and their uses. They worked in groups on 4 stroke lawn mowers, where they disassembled them, identifying various components and systems and reassembled them, time permitting. They thoroughly enjoyed the unit, gaining valuable understanding and practical skills in automotive.
