For parents and carers

Year 10 vaccinations

Each year, NSW Health works in partnership with schools to offer the vaccines recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for adolescents as part of the school

vaccination program.    The next vaccination is the Year 10 Meningococcal ACWY vaccine – single dose.

The vaccination clinic will be conducted at Cecil Hills  High School for all Year 10 students on Wednesday, 19th June 2019.   If your child hasn't already done so, please return signed consent form to the school office. Spare forms are available for collection at the school office.  Any further enquiries about the School Vaccination Program may be directed to NSW Health on tel. (02) 8778-0855. More information from NSW Health  can also be found here.

Parent Teacher interviews

Parent-teacher interviews are opportunities to touch base with your child’s teachers. They  are important and you shouldn’t miss them.

If you don’t go to parent-teacher interviews, you’re also missing out on the chance to hear the positive things about your child that they may not tell you themselves.  It’s just as rewarding for teachers to share good news with you!

  • Year 9 & 10 parent teacher interviews - Tuesday, 2 July.
  • Year 7 & 8 parent teacher interviews -  Wednesday, 24 July.
  • Year 11 & 12 parent teacher interviews were held in Term One.

Interview times begin at 4pm until 7pm.

Information will be sent to families closer to the interview dates to explain our Parent Teacher Evening online booking system and when this will be open for bookings.

We look forward to seeing you at these events to discuss how together, we can help support your child through their learning journey.

Leaving early

Parents / caregivers are requested to write a note explaining why the student needs to leave school early and the time they need to leave and who will be picking them up from the school office.  Notes should have the student's full name and year group printed clearly for records and files. Students must hand in this note to one of our Deputy Principals before school for authorisation and then to student reception where they will be issued with a sign out pass, allowing them to leave their class at the designated time.

Students are to show their classroom teacher this pass at the beginning of the lesson if they need to leave during class time. Students are then to report to student reception and wait to be collected.  If parents / caregivers unexpectedly need to collect their child, they are requested to call the school beforehand so arrangements can be made for the student to be waiting at reception.

Attendance at school

Parents and carers of children of compulsory school aged are responsible for ensuring their child attends school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school.  Justified reasons for student absences may include:

  • being sick or having an infectious disease
  • having an unavoidable medical appointment
  • being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
  • exceptional urgent family circumstances, e.g. attending a funeral

Families are encouraged to organise family trips only during school vacation periods. Every day away from school negatively affects achievement levels. Families planning to take their children out of school for a family trip outside of school vacation periods will be required to apply for leave by completing an Application for Extended Leave - Travel, which your child may collect from his/her Deputy Principal.

Further information for parents regarding compulsory school attendance can be found here.

Safety in the car park

When visiting the school to collect your children, parents and carers are asked to park outside the school premises in order to keep our children and staff safe. Parking in the school grounds is only available to school staff.  Driveways and access areas within the school car park must be kept free to allow access for emergency and delivery vehicles at all times.
