What is a refugee?

A refugee is someone who is accepted into a country and an immigrant is someone who is awaiting refugee status for a certain country.

We learned this when two Red Cross representatives visited us recently to receive our special donation. Cecil Hills High School proudly donated 200 back packs, which we filled with stationery items.  The Red Cross will distribute these filled bags to young children who have immigrated to Australia and are still awaiting refugee status. In return for this large donation we received an award from the Red Cross thanking us for helping these children. All of the stationery items placed in these back packs were donated by our students.
