Getting it right in Reading!
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge 2022
A reminder for parents and families that the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge is STILL OPEN! There is still a month for students to read and log books on the challenge website.
The challenge will continue until the 2nd September 2022.
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 2nd September 2022.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. 20 of these (or more) from the challenge book lists.
Children from Year 3 to Year 6 are challenged to read 15 books. 10 of these (or more) from the challenge book lists.
During the challenge, teachers will incorporate texts from the booklists into the teaching program and students will also be encouraged to read these during daily independent reading.
We REALLY value your support in taking up the challenge at home.
It is a great way to connect and share the enjoyment of some wonderful, high quality books. We encourage students to incorporate these books as part of their nightly reading – whether the books are read independently or the reading shared together with an adult, sibling or friend.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

Log in details were sent out in Term 2, which gives you access to log books on the challenge website. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have lost your details.
Kind Regards,
