Performing Arts - URINETOWN
And Thats a Wrap!
Welcome to our wonderfully weird and whacky production of Urinetown! (The musical… not the place). I have been overjoyed to have the opportunity to have a more hands on role in assistant directing this year and I can say without hesitation that I am in absolute awe of what the students have been able to achieve in such a short amount of time.
This year has certainly brought a new set of challenges between navigating missing cast members during rehearsals and designing and adapting individual costumes for each student. But through it all, not once have I wondered “why did I listen to that man?” About joining the team for the thrilling ride that is an RSC production. The students have continued to ‘follow their hearts’ and have taken the challenges we have thrown at them with every bit of enthusiasm and pride that we knew they would. They have done us proud by being incredibly supportive of each other and taking ownership by taking each individual character and making it completely their own. It has been a joy to see so many new faces involved in production this year both inside and outside of the cast and crew.
We certainly could not have made this show happen without all of the students, staff and parents who made this show possible with hours spent designing posters, managing our social media channels, adding all of the amazing details to our sets and painstakingly “trashing” our costumes over the school holidays.
Signing off before I leave you with ‘too much exposition’, I’ll leave you with this -prepare for laughter, shock, love and a lot of toilet humour… and to be honest, ‘we’re not sorry’ about it! I hope you enjoy the show as much as we have enjoyed creating it.

Assistant Director
From the very first moment of the dance audition this year we have had an absolute ball with this cast! We knew it may take time for the students to “get” this show but the energy and characterisation they all showed from the get-go has been a joy to watch and their endless energy is every choreographers dream! This year has been the fun of “how silly can we go” and the kids have been right there offering up suggestions and had me in endless giggles throughout the rehearsals. Huge thanks to dance captain Isabel Kenworthy for her eternal positivity and kindness to all.
Congratulations to all the cast on having the courage to push their boundaries and get a bit silly and understanding just how brilliant this musical is- a favourite of mine and it has been so amazing to share this clever show and how much of a musical theatre nerd I am with the cast!

As new Principal to the College, I am excited to be joining the Ringwood Secondary College community and to be welcoming you to the 2022 stage production of “Urinetown”. I, like many of you, am very aware of the outstanding history and success of previous RSC productions. Let me assure you that this year’s satirical comedy will not disappoint!
There is always a powerful energy that surrounds events where community stakeholders across a variety of ages work together towards a common goal and ‘Urinetown” is no exception. Together we can and always will achieve more.
As always acknowledgement and thanks must be extended to all those who have contributed to the success of “Urinetown”. Thank you to our parents and friends for their ongoing support of the College and its extra-curricular programs. Without you, these events would not be as successful as they are. Congratulations and thanks must be extended to all students involved in the production. Whether it be on stage, backstage, in sound and lighting, design or production, your contribution is valued and collectively is the highlight of all college productions.
Finally, to all the staff involved in making it all happen, your vision, passion, care, and commitment are much appreciated. On behalf of the school community, I thank you.
Enjoy the show.
