Digital Safety - Hints and Tips for our families

Tiktok and it's collection of data

The ABC has recently shared an interesting report on the way in which the popular social media app, that is used by a number of our young people, and how it captures and how it could use the data on our devices.

It presents an interesting insight into what might be happening in the background whilst we use TiKTok. Click on the image below to head to the site where you can listen to the short report.

The first of eSafety's family webinars is on this Monday 1 of August. If you would like to sign up for this or any of the other lessons they have available, click on the image below and it'll lead you to the registration page.

We hope you find what we share informative and helpful. Please feel free to send over any other helpful resources or articles you find connected to digital safety to me at twood@stlouisaspendale.com

Year 6 STEM learning this week

Year 6

Year 6 has begun their learning journey into the impact food waste is having in Australia and beyond.

We started by researching some pretty alarming statistics such as Australia alone wastes 7.6 million tonnes of food each year, 70% of this is perfectly edible.

We explored the use of green screening as a tool to create a short video clip explaining the problem. We also had a go at the technique of Storyboarding to plan for these videos.

Hopefully, we'll have some examples to share with you in the next couple of weeks.

Next week marks the start of our cooking in STEM. If you are a year 6 parent and would like to help, please fill out this form with your information and availability
