Lots going on in sports at St Louis. Check out our gallery below for some of the teams who have been involved in tournaments recently.

Hi all

The entire school has gone “skipping” mad.  All classes have been partaking in a skipping program and the kids have taken to it like a duck to water.  It’s a great activity for fitness and compliments all other sports and physical activities.  We are learning short rope skipping, partner skipping and long rope skipping. It has proved popular during playtimes with ropes swinging everywhere you can see.

GIRLS AFL

Last Tuesday our Girls AFL team traveled to Bonbeach Reserve for the Division finals.  It was a bumpy lead up to the day with several players constantly entering the “injury” list each day.   We had to pull reserves from our Year 5 cohort and we only just had enough to field a team that looked quite different from our District winning team.

We won both preliminary games against Parkton PS and Black Rock PS.  Although the competition was a step up from our District games, the girls played attacking, skillful football to ensure we dominated possession.  Our backline, made up of mainly Year 5s, held strong in both games to ensure the opposition did not score.  Abbey was very good up forward.  2 games, 2 wins and we are in the semi final.

The semi v St Patrick’s PS was a low scoring encounter.  Midfielders, Leila, Liv, April and Tilly did very well to stifle very good opponents.  The game swung from back line to backline without anyone scoring.  At full time it was a draw which means extra time had to be played to get the result.  We defended grimly for the first five minutes but conceded a point.  By the time we were able to get the ball going our way, the siren sounded with the ball stuck in our forward pocket. Another 30 seconds may have won it for us.  But that’s sport.

Overall, the girls brought in varied experience and skills but they gelled together really well when it mattered.  Thank you to Ava, Sienna, Lani, Emma and Lexi for coming up to play with the “big” girls and looking like you belonged.  Well done to our Year 6 girls for your gamesmanship and role modeling.

Thank you to the parents and family members who came along to cheer and support.  Thank you to the Laughlin clan for goal umpiring, looking after injured players and a couple of crucial coaching moves.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!  T-BALL DIVISION CHAMPS.

Today (29/7), our Girl’s T-ball team traveled to Cheltenham baseball for the Kingston District Finals.  They won all of their games on the day and are now the Kingston Division champions.  They will now go on to the South Metro Regional finals in 2 weeks' time.  It’s a great effort as we didn’t even have a girl’s t-ball team at the start of the season.  The girls have been on a steep learning curve on technique, rules and strategies and the results have been stunning.  Thank you to Mr Wood, Mrs O’Brien and a few parents for their invaluable input to make this achievement possible.  St Louis has it's very own Bad News Bears!
