NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Last Friday, we kicked off our school's NAIDOC celebrations with our NAIDOC Carnival Day and our NAIDOC Assembly, where we presented our inaugural ‘Deadly Awards’.

The day consisted of creating a mural, painting boomerangs, learning traditional dances, playing traditional games on the oval but the highlight of our day was students lining up to have Indigenous ochre and traditional colours painted on them. Thank you Mrs Gwalter, Miss Cloake and Mr Peachey for organising and co-ordinating the day for our students, our special visitors Mrs Tighe from the Catholic Schools Office, McCarthy dancers, families and friends who attended.

CSPA Survey

Catholic School Parents Australia (CSPA) are inviting all parents in Catholic Schools to complete a short Student Well Being and Learning Survey Your feedback will remain anonymous. More information can be found on the CSPA Website

Infants Pick Up

The flow of traffic at the Infants Pick-up Area is essential for the safety and convenience of all members of our community.

Can we please ask that if you plan to stay to collect older students arriving on the bus, or stay to play at the park, that you park out of the kiss and drop zone.

Parking at the bottom of Hyman Park on Hillvue Road would allow for more parks to be available for the quick collection of children in the afternoon. At the moment the line of traffic, due to parking spaces being occupied for 15 minutes or more, is causing issues with buses at the front of the school and is not safe for anyone. We thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.

It has also been reported by a member of the school community that when waiting to collect their child, they have witnessed parents and carers smoking and swearing. As this is a space used by adults and children, please ensure respect for all is a priority.

Join the St Edward's Playgroup!

Our St Ed's Playgroup is held each Tuesday of term from 10am-12 noon in the Infants Hall. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents with toddlers who are preparing to enter Kindergarten. We will be gathering together for social events, and we'll also have learning opportunities so you can get ready for big school! The playgroup is a great way to make friends, and it's also a valuable resource for getting information about our school. Information sessions plus coffee and cake will be the order of the day, as well as fun activities for the active toddler. Interested? Please contact our newly appointed Playgroup Co-ordinator (and early childhood expert), Mrs Candice Lamb, on 0402 700 039 or candicelamb24@gmail.com
