Banksia House

This term, the Banksia Student Representatives have been busily fundraising to support our chosen charity Song Room, a non-profit organisation that allows less fortunate students the chance to receive art and music lessons.

Every week at lunch time we have been selling lollipops, and recently started selling noodles also. This was a great success with many students buying from the Banksia staff. We raised over $200 selling lollipops and noodles this term.

A few weeks ago, there was a Student VS Teachers dodgeball tournament for students from Banksia that required a gold coin donation. The students and teachers had lots of fun.  At this game, we raised over $120 for our chosen charity.

We have also created a game where students can predict the number of treats in a jar; if they are close to the number, they are allowed to keep it.

We’ve also been allowing students to come in the House every Friday at lunchtime to watch movies and play games. We have watched movies such as Jurassic Park, Ghost Busters, Casper and many more.

As this term comes to an end, I can happily report that Banksia House has actively tried to raise money for Song Room, and in Term 4 we hope to come up with fresh strategies to raise money and encourage student voice within our house.
