On Thursday the 28th of July, you may have found yourself questioning whether you were at a primary school or a retirement village, with the Junior building being overtaken by tiny 100-year-olds and two very elderly-looking P/1 teachers.
We had a fabulous day celebrating our Preps 100th day of school. Over the last 100 days, we have seen such growth both academically and personally and we are so proud of how well our Prep students have settled into their first year of school.
The day consisted of lots of laughter and activities that focused on the number 100. Our centenarian Preps and Ones played the part so well and looked amazing doing so.
Nanna naps were definitely needed by the end of the day as well as a very early night.
Thank you to all of our families for your support in helping make this day one to remember!
We would like to congratulate our students on a superb dance performance at Friday assembly. It was so good to see every student busting out the moves to Timber. Once again, thank you to our family and friends who were in attendance to support the students.
Additionally, thank you to all the families that visited for our onsite Maths afternoon last week! The students really enjoyed having their parents/guardians come into the classroom and engage in a number of Maths games that the students had learnt over the year so far. Games, including ‘Time dominoes’, ‘Bulls, Cows, Sheep’, and ‘Four Corners‘, were fan favourites. Students have now completed their Time unit and have thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of our Fractions unit where we have placed a focus on identifying halves, thirds, quarters, fifths and eighths. Students have had the opportunity to create their own fraction wall and have challenged themselves through placing different fractions on a number line. We are excited to see each and everyone’s growth as we move forward in our Fractions learning cycle.
All students have been working hard on preparing art work and dances in readiness for our upcoming 'Shout Out' Concert to be held on Wednesday August 31 at 6:30 pm in our school gymnasium. Tickets will be $10 per adult with kids free of charge. Due to the capacity of the gym, initially only 2 adult tickets will be issued per family, if space is still available in the week leading up to the concert, we will offer families the opportunity to purchase more. Tickets can be purchased from the school office.
On Tuesday August 9, I traveled with 21 eager Basketball players to Selkirk Stadium in Ballarat for an incredible day of round-robin competition. Our players did our school proud against some tough teams. Our boys team consisting of Fletcher, Will, Noah, Khulan, Casey, Paul, Brody, Derrick, Coops, Logan and Cruze, fought hard in every game, winning their way into the finals where they eventually went down to Dana Street. Our girls, Ruby, Addie, Indy, Lucy, Ella, Ang, Amarni, Molly L, Lena and Abbey S, put on an amazing show of determination with many playing in their first ever basketball competition. After dropping their first game, the girls went from strength to strength winning all their other games.
I would like to congratulate the whole crew for the wonderful support they showed to their team members and for the responsibilities they took on during the day, I was incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves. It was also great to be supported by quite a few parents who were able to spend some time at the games, thanks for coming to cheer us along!
