Assistant Principal's Report

JANE GODWIN INCURSION

On Thursday our teachers and students had an incursion with one of Australia’s best-selling and well know authors, Jane Godwin. Jane has written many popular picture story books that you may know, including two school favourites, ‘Go Go and the Silver Shoes’ and ‘Tilly’. Jane spoke about the importance of collecting ideas in everyday life and demonstrated how she uses these ideas within the writing process from start to finish to create her world acclaimed books. One take away for me and hopefully many of our students, was that anybody can be a great writer, you just need ideas. Jane was super impressed with the high-level questioning from our students and complimented them on the respect they showed throughout all presentations. I would like to thank Jane for making the time to talk our budding Eastie writers and Mrs Hamiliton for organising such am amazing opportunity for our students. I can’t wait to get into a few writing lessons in the coming weeks.

INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

Yesterday, Mr Holmfield took 38 of our Grade 3 to 6 running stars over to Jack Eddy Oval to compete in the Campaspe Interschool Cross Country. Our Eastie values were on show, with large numbers of family on course to join our students cheer competitors over the finish line. Congratulations to Jorga McCleod and Aaliyah Day-Leech who have qualified for regionals in St Arnaud later in the term. Special mentions also go to Jack Holmfied and Ryder Roussis who missed out on a ticket to regionals by one place. Great job to all our competitors who have once again done us proud on the big stage.

MINI CROSS COUNTRY

Today, our youngest running superstars took part in our annual Junior Cross Country. The energy levels were high and the competition fierce as our future champions huffed, puffed and willed their way around Mr Holmfield’s course. For many of our young students, cross country running can be a daunting prospect, but the way all our students tackled this challenge is a credit to our Eastie values and the amazing PE program that Mr Holmfield delivers. Thank you to Mr Holmfield for putting on another great event as well as our families and friends that came along to cheer us on.

PREP ENROLMENTS

2024 Prep Enrolments are now well and truly open. We have been overwhelmed with the high levels of interest for Preps next year as the good word of the East and the amazing things happening here spreads. As our friends and family, you are the best and most important advocates for our school so keep up the great work. If you know anyone with a child starting in Prep next year, tell them to touch base with school for a personalised tour. I know they will be impressed.
