The Shrine of Remembrance

On the 2nd June, the Year 4's went to the Shrine of Remembrance in the city to learn about Australia's history in the world wars.  We had a very wonderful tour guide called Barry who showed 4S around the Shrine.  We learnt about the countries that fought in the many wars like WW1 and Vietnam and Indonesia.  It is important to learn about the war because then we can prevent things like this from happening.  We saw photographs, maps, artifacts in a museum under the Shrine.  We were very lucky to try on and look at the uniforms that the soldiers from the Vietnam war wore.  Did you know that the Shrine of Remembrance is nearly 90 years old?

Outside of the Shrine there are 2 courtyards with olive trees, sandstones and pebbles.  We stood in front of the eternal flame to remember the soldiers who died in the wars.  The Year 4's donated gold coins to the Shrine of Remembrance to commemorate the soldiers who fought for our safety.

We all loved the excursion and we will never forget it!

Cranbourne Gardens Excursion

The Year 2s had a wonderful excursion to Cranbourne Gardens on the 1st June. We had beautiful weather to explore the impressive native Australian Gardens and to learn about health and wellbeing in nature.

Writing to Inform

As part of our Writing Cycle (Writing to Inform) Year 3 students worked in partners to design, build and test a bridge using a range of materials. The bridge needed to span a length of 50cm and hold the weight of toy cars. Students will now write a detailed procedure text on how to construct their bridge!
