Aoife's Message

Hello Holy Cross families,

What a priviledge it was to go on camp with our Year 3/4 children and staff. Our camp program provides many opportunities for children to grapple with dispositions such as bravery, resilience, flexibilty and adaptability. Thank you to Kate J for leading the organisation of camp and to Sian, Sheree, Tracey, Emily, Maryanne, Bernie, Zoe and Nat for supporting our children to have a fantastic camp experience. Check out the Holy Cross Happenings page for more details.

A reminder that we have registered our school for a series of three webinars, run by Inform & Empower. I encourage families to register, if you can't attend the scheduled session it will be available for replay afterwards. See below for details on how to access the session.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families from Exford Primary school in Eynesbury following the devastating event they experienced recently. We have made a donation on behalf of Holy Cross to the 'gofund me' account set up to support the ongoing care of the children.

Reminder: School Closure Day - Tuesday 13th June

All staff will be taking part in a professional development day on Tuesday 13th June. SchoolsOut is accepting expressions of interest for any families who may wish to avail of this service. Thank you for your support.

Office reminder - If your child comes to school after 8.50am they must be signed in at the office.

In our last newsletter I asked families to revisit the Parent Code of Conduct. I am now specifically directing parents to the section related to unacceptable conduct which includes, but is not limited to, the following points:

  • approaching a child that is not your own with a view to disciplining that child for their behaviour. Such matters are only to be dealt with by school staff
  • approaching other school parents to resolve issues arising between students at school. Such matters are only to be dealt with by school staff
  • the use of inappropriate or profane words or gestures and images
  • any form of cyber bullying or cyber abuse that is directed towards the school, staff members, students or parents or any member connected to the school
  • language or conduct which is harmful, threatening, abusive or likely to offend, harass, bully or unfaily discriminate against any student, employee, contractor, volunteer or other
  • corresponding or communicating with school staff in a manner which is unreasonable (including for example, via email or app's) in terms of the frequency or volume of communications, or the nature or tone of such communications

We strive to create a safe environment for our children, staff and families. It is the responsibility of all to work together for the good of our children and our wider community.
