Welcome

In this edition of MY FUTURE Careers News, I wish to inform you of a fantastic experience, selected students from Year 9 to 12 undertook last week. These students nominated to attend the second annual Tradesfit Expo for women in Trades and Technology at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The expo featured over 100 different trade and technology displays in non-traditional female roles. The students were able to speak to companies involved in areas such as Victoria’s Big Build road project, Woolworths, Amazon and even the North Melbourne Football Club, who are currently promoting a trade focused program for women. They were able to try their hand at Virtual Reality, bricklaying and even making a wooden cup holder.
A final reminder that Year 10 students have been informed of the opportunity to undertake a week of Work Experience in the first week of the July school holidays (Monday, 26 to Friday, 30 June). Students can opt in to this program and are encouraged to seek out employers willing to take them. Further information and forms are accessible via the Year 10 Google Classroom page. Work Experience forms should be returned to Ms Keating in Currajeen, CS3 by the end of May in order for the placement to go ahead.
