Walk To School Safely Day

When:  Friday 19th May

We would like to encourage families to participate in this event as it promotes better health, road safety, public transport and the environment. It also decreases traffic congestion and motor vehicle pollution.

The annual campaign encourages all students, parents and carers to walk safely and regularly to school, to establish good habits for leading healthy and active lives.

School Sport Vitoria (SSV) Trials

We would like to congratulate Pippa from SKF and Tom from SLD who have successfully progressed through to the next stage of Netball and Football in the SSV pathway.  We wish them all the best for their up and coming trial later in May.

Book Fair Next Week

As part of Education Week our Book Fair will run in the Library from Monday 15th May until Friday 19th May. A wide range of books are on display and available for purchase (although copies of popular books do run out and these need to be prepaid so we can order them).

Opening times for the Book Fair are:

Monday 15th May              8.30 - 9.30am

Tuesday 16th May              8.30 - 9.00am

                                                  2.00 - 4.00pm

Wednesday 17th May        8.30 - 9.30am

                                                   3.00 - 4.00pm

 Thursday 18th May             8.30 - 9.00am

  Friday 19th May                  8.30 - 9.30am

Some of the times are available so that you can come in without children if you want to purchase the books as gifts. Other times are available so that your children can come in with you. There are also times during the Open Afternoon and Open Morning.

All classes will get a chance to come in and write out a wish list during the week of the Book Fair. We do remind the children that it is a ‘wish’ list and it doesn’t mean that they will necessarily get anything that they write down or they may have visited the Book Fair prior to completing their wish list. They are also reminded that the Library purchases books from the Book Fair and they can always suggest a book for the Library to buy. On the back of the wish list forms there are instructions on how you can pay online if you can’t get into the Book Fair. If you make a payment this way please make sure that your child has been into the Book Fair to redeem the receipt that you receive by email BEFORE the Book Fair closes on Friday morning.

Lamont is the company through which we are running our book fair this year. This is a fund-raising opportunity for our school. Payment can be made by cash, Visa or Mastercard or online as per instructions on the back of the wish lists. We should have two EFTPOS machines available. No AMEX is available.

Book Fair Request for Volunteers

We are asking for staff and parent volunteers to help out at this year’s Book Fair. If you can give half an hour to an hour of your time to help out please email jessica.ward@education.vic.gov.au. Some sessions are quiet, while others can be very busy. We need at least one person, preferably two, for all sessions. Sue will be at all sessions, so will be there to explain how things work.

The 2023 Premier's Reading Challenge is currently underway, all students have received their login details and we are hoping that everyone is joining in the reading fun.

Until September 8th, students can record the books they've read:

Preps - Y2 need to read 30 books (this includes books read to them for younger readers)

Years 3 - 6 need to read 15 books

All students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate!

If you have any questions, please see your classroom teacher.

Happy reading!
