St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal Began This Week - please donate!
The College's St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal, centred on the donation of suitable goods to aid those who are less fortunate, began this week. According to surveys run by the City of Sydney and the Sydney Morning Herald, there has been as much as a 90% increase in the number of homeless people aged 17-24.

How can we help? St Vincent de Paul is asking for donations of new, as new and pre-loved goods for distribution to its Vinnies Society Centres, and to Vinnies run initiatives like the Matthew Talbot Hostel. Donations needed by St Vincent de Paul are as follows:
With the winter season well and truly coming upon us, it would be well worth having a conversation at home about helping those in need (and de-cluttering bedrooms in the process!)
Year 9 students will be collecting items during morning Homeroom. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to email Mr Balboa at RBalboa@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au.

On Friday night SPX students were joined in our Chatswood Parish with around 150 young people from around the Diocese celebrating Pentecost and the Holy Spirit. Buses came from the furthest reaches of the Diocese on the Central Coast and groups from as close as Willoughby parish.
The church was transformed into a show of colour and light as Christ inspired musician, Gen Bryant, entertained with her music and shared a meaningful testimony of the work of the Spirit in her life, before the young people took the opportunity for directed prayer ministry and singing some contemporary worship songs. It was a truly amazing event which inspired all who attended.

St Pius X College was well represented with James Kassis attending with his family, and many from our current Alpha group - Patrick Moore, Luke Massa and Angelo Fernando - all present to enjoy the evening with their families and youth groups, Special thanks also to Ethan Griffin, Harrison Pieredes and Ethan Griffin who, with Mr Donnelly, contributed by cooking the BBQ, preparing and serving more than 200 sausages for the gathered youth.
We look forward to participating again in the growing Catholic Youth of Broken Bay Diocese activities and gatherings.
As our Alpha program nears its conclusion at the end of term with we pray for these students and the journey they have been on to a closer relationship with Jesus through the Spirit and the confidence, connectedness and strength that this brings.
