Global Literacies: Making your own country

report by Ruby Davies

In Global Literacies we are making our own country. Not a prissy little  country where sky's rain jellybeans, rivers run chocolate milk and the ground is made of cookies!  We are making our own legitimate country (that doesn't  really exist) so I guess it isn't legitimate but it ain't a two year olds dream!!

These are the steps that were taken to make my marvellous country - Island.Island - see attached pdf for images:

  1. Chose a time period to make the country in (1330-1350)
  2. Pinpoint the location that you want the country to be in and write the longitude and latitude, the climate, the time zone, etc. (Image 10)
  3. Make a timeline about the events that happened during the country's rain (very short). (Image 1)
  4. Make a map of the country up close. (Image 2)
  5. Make a creational story for the country. (Image 3)
  6. Make flag for the country. (Image 4)
  7. Make two primary sources. (Image 5)
  8. Make one secondary source. (Image 6)
  9. Make a currency for the country. (Image 7)
  10. Make a name for that country (very important). (Image 8)
  11. Create a narrative that is based around a certain event in your timeline. (Image 9)
  12. Create a persuasive speech that makes people want to come to your country.
